ELMAR MAMEDYAROV: "AZERBAIJAN IS INTERESTED IN EU NEIGHBORHOOD POLICY AND IS READY TO IT"

EU troika met with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov in
the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan today.

Day.Az reports that the a press conference held after the meeting,
Elmar Mamedyarov announced that the sides held discussions the current
process of the resolution of Nagorno-Garabagh conflict during which
he expressed Azerbaijan’s position on the issue.

Moreover, the Minister said that the sides discussed issues of energy
security and gas supplies from Middle Asia to Europe.

"Azerbaijan is interested in the EU Neighborhood Policy and is ready
to it", Mamedyarov said. In turn, Dmitri Rupel, Foreign Minister
of Slovenia, currently chairing the European Union highly evaluates
relations with Azerbaijan".

According to D.Rupel, the European Union wishes stability in the
region, including the resolution of Nagorno-Garabagh conflict.

Touching upon the processes, ongoing in the country, he highly
evaluated the release of imprisoned reporters and democratic reforms
ongoing in the country.

"The cooperation in energy sector is important. But we wish cooperation
not only between the European Union and Azerbaijan but also between
the European Union, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan", he said.
