ArmInfo. The statement of presidential candidate of Armenia, Leader of
Orinats Yerkir Party Artur Baghdasaryan that he was threatened to be
killed, are populism at their finest, RA NA deputy, press secretary
of the Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov expressed such
an opinion in his talk with ArmInfo correspondent.
He also emphasized that the society has already got used to the fact
that some candidates make sensational statements instead engaging in
something useful. "This is a PR-mechanism of its kind, but at the
same time, not a serious step, as in case of a real threat to life
Artur Baghdasaryan would have turned to law enforcement agencies of
Armenia. But he didn’t", Sharmazanov said. He added that how much
democratic the country is, there are political forces everywhere,
which are discontent with the present authority. However, the society
as a whole, doesn’t give way to unreal, not serious and thought out
moods. Sharmazanov called his colleagues to treat domestic political
processes more seriously and said that all actions can be justified
if they are within the country’s Constitution. Otherwise, political
forces lose those small percents of votes, which they expect to
get. The press secretary of RPA emphasized that the Armenian Government
headed by the presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan, advances step
by step the idea of economic-political evolution, which will become
a prerequisite for confident victory by February 20, i.e on the day
following the presidential election.
To recall, Leader of Orinats Yerkir party Artur Baghdasaryan said
at the meeting, February 3, that he was threatened to be killed the
day before. He also said that in case something happens to him, the
"present authorities of the country will bear all the responsibility
for it". However, Prosecutor General’s office of Armenia hasn’t still
got any application from Artur Baghdsaryan.
