NEW ROADS TO BE BUILT IN YEREVAN IN 2008

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 5, NOYAN TAPAN. New roads will be built this
year for the purpose of improving the traffic network of Yerevan. In
particular, according to the information provided by Samvel Danielian,
the Chief Architect of Yerevan, at the February 4 press conference,
Miasnikian avenue will join Saralanj one and Abovian street will join
Miasnikian avenue by tunnel crossings. According to Samvel Danielian,
the road passing round the center of the capital in the western part
will be completed and operate unitedly. It was also mentioned that
the building work of the roads entering and going out of Yerevan will
be continued this year.
In addition to this, the road junction being built at the crossroads
of Khanjian – Tigran Mets streets, as well as the widening work
of Khanjian street on account of the river-bed of the Getar will
be finished.
Samvel Danielian stated that the construction of the "Old Yerevan"
historical-architectural environment will start in the intermediate
section of Aram and Biuzand streets this year. More than 20 buildings
of historical-cultural value will be transferred here.
The Chief Architect of Yerevan mentioned that the zoning work of one
more community, that is Shengavit, will be implemented this year. In
addition to Shengavit, those sections of the city, where express
roads are envisaged to be built, will also be zoned this year.
It was also mentioned that the project building work of the Kond,
Kozern and 33rd districts, which are considered to be realization
zones, is currently being implemented.
