YEREVAN MUNICIPALITY TO BUILD UNDERGROUND PARKING LOTS

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 5, ARMENPRESS: Yerevan’s chief architect Samvel
Darbinian said Monday the authorities plan to build several underground
parking lots in the city to alleviate the traffic frenzy.

He said more and more motorists use streets not for driving but as
parking lots. He said the program will be implemented in 2008-2014. The
first underground parking lots will appear in downtown Yerevan and
spread gradually uptown.

According to the chief architect, underground parking lots in central
Yerevan will accommodate up to 10,000 vehicles.
