Armenia will become the first foreign country to take Sukhoi SuperJet
100 passenger planes, Russian Transportation Minister Igor Levitin
told reporters Wednesday.

Russian flag carrier Aeroflot Russian Airlines will be the first
Russian carrier to receive the SuperJet 100, Levitin said.

Russia’s Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, the maker of the SuperJet 100, signed
a multi-mullion dollar agreement in September to supply two SuperJet
100 planes to Armenian airline Armavia. The planes are to be supplied
to Armavia at the end of 2008. Under the agreement, Armavia will also
have an option to acquire another two SuperJet 100s in the future.

Italy’s ItAli is so far the only airline outside the Commonwealth of
Independent States (CIS) to have placed an order for the aircraft.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a regional jet in the 75 to 95-seat
category. Mass production is expected to start in 2008.
