Ericsson Bags IMS Contract from ArmenTel

ArmenTel, VimpelCom’s operator in Armenia has chosen Ericsson (News –
Alert) as the supplier and systems integrator of an IP Multimedia
Subsystem solution that will deliver a next-generation network,
supporting integrated fixed and mobile services.
Ericsson will transform ArmenTel’s existing fixed network into an
IMS-based, fixed and mobile convergent network. Under the agreement,
Ericsson will also deliver systems integration services of required
IP-platforms and applications. These will enable convergent IMS
service offering, such as IP telephony and multimedia services to
consumers and business customers. In addition, Ericsson will provide
a broad array of professional services, including consulting and
support.
Dmitry Pleskonos, vice president of VimpelCom said in a statement
that they are glad that long-term cooperation with Ericsson as mobile
systems supplier served as a basis for the extension of their
partnership in such an important area as mobile-fixed convergence,
where they see great potential. Ericsson’s advanced end-to-end
solution will allow their subscribers to enjoy a wide range of hi-end
telecom services.

project,’ said Zoran Lukovic, vice president, Ericsson Eastern Europe
and Central Asia. He added that
Ericsson IMS offers an attractive user experience by enabling telecom
operators to combine today’s and tomorrow’s applications in an
integrated service offering.
Ericsson’s IMS solution, an end-to-end offering for fixed and mobile
operators supports the introduction of flexible and scalable advanced
services across a range of end user devices, while helping operators
leverage their existing investments.
