Though the ban on media coverage from inside the court continued,
the trial was recorded on camera and all testimonies taped.

ISTANBUL – All 19 men accused of involvement in the murder of prominent
Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink are to remain in custody,
a Turkish court ruled Monday.

At the end of the third hearing of the case, the Istanbul court
set the date for the next session of the trial for February 25,
and ordered all the accused to continue to be detained.

One of the accused, a 17 year old youth who cannot be identified
in the media, is charged with the actual shooting of Dink, who was
gunned down outside the office of the Argos newspaper of which he
was the editor on January 19 last year.

The others on trial are accused of a range of crimes, including
inciting the youth to carry out the killing, helping to plan or assist
in the crime and being members of a criminal organization.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
