ARMENIA’S PERMANENT POPULATION GROWS TO 3,229,900

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 12, ARMENPRESS: Armenia’s permanent population by
January 1, 2008 amounted to 3,229,900. The National Statistical Service
said urban population was 2.069,300 and rural population was 1,160,600.

The Service said the country’s permanent population grew by 7,000
people last year due to new- born babies who made 26 percent and
decrease in negative migration balance.

Overall 40,141 babies were born in 2007, by 7 percent more than in
2006. Also 27,400 deaths were registered.
