CATHOLICOS ARAM I RECEIVES A THANK YOU NOTE FROM
THE ROYAL AAL AL-BAYT INSTITUTE FOR ISLAMIC THOUGHT
The Catholicosate of Cilicia’s communications department announced
previously that the Jordan-based Royal Aal Al-Bayt Institute for Islamic
Thought had sent a letter signed by 138 Muslim clerics and intellectuals and
addressed to Christian leaders with the hope of exploring new possibilities
for cooperation.
In a response letter, Catholicos Aram I had concisely described the field of
work of the two religions and discussed ways to overcome with collective
efforts the challenges faced by all religions in general.
Replying to the Armenian Pontiff’s proposals, The Prince of Jordan and the
President of the Islamic institute, HRH Prince Ghazi Bin Muhammad bin Talal,
has sent a thank you note. On behalf of the Muslim clerics who signed the
statement, the Prince of Jordan expresses his happiness for the Catholicos’
viewpoints, which are "intelligently laid out, based on shared values and
love and which open new horizons for joint meetings in the sphere of
Christian-Muslim coexistence and strong cooperation for the sake of enhanced
understanding and for the benefit of the followers of the two religions, who
together form half the population of the world."
It is worth mentioning that the appeal of the Muslim clerics will also be
discussed during the one-day conference to be organized by the
Christian-Muslim Arab committee next month. His Holiness Aram I is invited
to the conference as keynote speaker.
