ARMENIAN OPPOSITION LAUNCHES SIT-DOWN PROTEST ACTION

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ An opposition rally in support of Armenia’s first
President Levon Ter-Petrosyan started in Yerevan. The RA Police and
Mayor’s office reported the rally is not authorized.

"The Mayor’s office did not authorize the rally and we must inform
the public about it," the police said.

Meanwhile, the rally participants announced a sit-down protest action
and have no intention to break up.

Policemen do not interfere.

"We will hold peaceful actions and will not yield to provocations,"
said Ararat Zurabyan, chairman of the Armenian National Movement.

Orinats Yerkir party, whose leader Artur Baghdassaryan was backed by
16,66% of voters, announced that election staff head Heghine Bisharyan
will address the rally, Armenian media reports.

According to preliminary results, Armenian Prime Minister Serzh
Sargsyan won the presidential election with 52,86% of votes.
