WHAT HAS KARABAKH DONE FOR RECOGNITION?

"It is not quite correct to consider the independence of Kosovo
as a precedent for Karabakh. It is just an interesting fact,"
said NKR Member of Parliament Armen Sargsyan. In answer to the
question of Karabakh-Open.com he compared the policies of Kosovo
and Nagorno-Karabakh for international recognition. "The policy of
Kosovo resembles our actions in the period when we were a subject
in the talks. Most of our achievements were in that period. But
then we became an object in the talks and we lost our trump card and
possibility to conduct an independent policy. Now we become adjusted
to the situation rather than we create the situation. When we were
a subject in the talks, we were able to initiate situations, marking
distinctly and justifying our goal," Armen Sargsyan said.

The member of parliament thinks it is necessary to have a distinct
and independent policy aimed at the international recognition of
NKR, meanwhile the absence of such a policy is the Achilles’ sole of
Karabakh. "We first need to acknowledge our independence in all spheres
of life, and then conduct a policy directed at the international
community, using the potential of the Armenians worldwide, including
the Diaspora. In that case, we will succeed. I am not ingenuous to
think that immediately after the start of the process a parade of
recognition will start, but I am sure that without this process we
cannot achieve independence."

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
