Arzu Abdullayeva: "Our visit to Nagorno Karabakh does not contain any
political implications"

22 February 2008 [11:31] – Today.Az

The Azerbaijani National Committee of the Helsinki Civil Assembly
rebuts accusations of high treason by "certain powers" addressed to
the representatives of the civil society, planning to visit Nagorno
Karabakh.

The due information was provided by Novosti-Azerbaijan with
reference to the press secretariat for the Committee.

"The Organization for Karabakh’s Liberation has made a speech
regarding this issue, which is typical for it, trying to accuse the
citizens, who prepare for a visit to Nagorno Karabakh of high treason
and attempts to benefit from a joint business with Armenians", the
announcement says.
Committee chairman Arzu Abdullayev notes that the organization is not
going to justify itself. She said she would like to just explain some
moments so that public has a fair opinion regarding the purposes of
the visit.

"This trip is arranged by the government of Holland, which just pays
for traveling expenses. The headquarters of the international
Helsinki civil assembly is in Netherlands and the arrangement will be
organized by this very organization.

As is known, Holland is not an interested party in Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict and the leadership of the country supports the peaceful
resolution of the problem. In this sense, it would not be right to
attach political implications to our visit to Nagorno Karabakh", the
announcement says.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
