ARMEN HAROUTIUNIAN PROPOSES YEREVAN MAYOR REGULATING ISSUE OF RENDERING MEDICAL AID TO PEOPLE HAVING GONE ON HUNGER-STRIKE IN LIBERTY SQUARE

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 26, NOYAN TAPAN. On February 25, the working group
created by the instruction of RA Ombudsperson Armen Haroutiunian met
with 10 people in Liberty Square, who went on termless hunger-strike
from February 24.
According to the report provided to Noyan Tapan by the Ombudsperson’s
Information and Public Relations Department, during the meeting it was
found out that part of people having gone on hunger-strike suffers
from different diseases and a need of urgent medical aid can emerge
at any moment.
Taking into consideration the circumstance that according to Article
38 of the RA Constitution, everyone has a right to receive medical aid
and service by the methods established by the law, the RA Ombudsperson
has sent an official letter to Yerevan Mayor proposing the proper
health subdivision of Mayor’s Office regulating the issue of rendering
medical aid to the people, who have gone on hunger-strike, as well
as establishing medical duty.
