AZERBAIJAN TO DEFEND NATIONAL INTERESTS, SECURITY IN ANTITERROR FIGHT

An Azerbaijan official has said that his country will defend its
national interests and security in the antiterrorfight.

At a news conference broadcast by private Azad Azarbaycan TV on 25
February, the press secretary of the AzerbaijaniForeign Ministry,
Xazar Ibrahim, said: "There are reports and cases of PKK [Kurdistan
Workers’ Party]terrorists having been deployed on occupied
Azerbaijani territories. Terrorists are the point here. Azerbaijan
willalways fight terrorism continuously and defend its national
interests and security."

Ibrahim stressed: "The point here is not the movement of Kurds [to
Armenian-controlled Azerbaijani territories].The point is terrorism
here. These two issues should be distinguished."

Ibrahim added that the duty of every state in the present-day world
is to fight terrorism.

"The international community continuously fights global terrorism.
Azerbaijan is also a member of this[antiterrorist] international
coalition," he said.
