ArmInfo. Chairman of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Goran Lenmarker is
concerned over the post-election situation in Armenia.
As the Radio "Liberty" reports, G. Lenmarker thinks that a serious
discussion developed after February 19 presidential election in
Armenia concerning the quality of the election held. Head of OSCE PA
said that OSCE democratic institutions, the ombudsman office and the
Parliamentary Assembly promulgated a preliminary joint report, which
reflects their opinion on the past election. He also said that this
report will be followed by the final report to reflect the situation
developed in a post-election period. G. Lenmarker added that it
will also reflect the situation of confusion in the country. Asked
whether the fact of detention of some oppositional representatives
was discussed during the meeting with RA authorities, Goran Lenmarker
replied that according to the explanations, given by the authorities,
availability of arms with representatives of the opposition has
become the reason of their detention. He said that he cannot judge
what is right and what is wrong and added that he was told just
so much and it is difficult for the foreigner to give an objective
assessment. G. Lenmarker expressed hope that they will be witnesses
of peaceful solution of the problem and no violence will be applied.
