YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 28, NOYAN TAPAN. At the February 28 sitting,
the RA government approved the RA bill "On Non-material Cultural
Heritage," which will be submitted for the NA’s discussion in the
established order. As RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosian told
journalists after the sitting, all laws adopted so far regarded
material cultural heritage. This is the first law, which seriously
touches upon non-material cultural heritage.

H. Poghosian said that the bill gives the definitions of the main
notions regarding non-material cultural heritage. In particular, among
these notions are non-material cultural heritage, non-material value,
bearer of non-material value, and so on. And non-material cultural
values are folk lore heritage, all oral forms of tradition, language,
dialects, folk art of singing, performing art, etc.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
