Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sarkisian, elected
the President of the republic, stated that "we will be extremely
tolerant up to the point there is an effort to abuse that tolerance,
which may lead to very bad consequences".
As Mediamax was told in the governmental press service, Serzh Sarkisian
said this on February 28, commenting on the post-election situation
in Armenia during the meeting with the Special Representative of the
European Union in the South Caucasus Peter Semneby.
The Prime Minister confirmed his readiness to cooperate with all the
forces, ready to use their potential for the welfare of Armenia’s
development.
Serzh Sarkisian stated that the authorities do everything possible for
the post-election processes not to harm the citizens of the republic
and not to damage the international image of Armenia.
Peter Semneby congratulated Serzh Sarkisian, noting that the
past elections became a most important factor along the path of
consolidation of democracy.
He also stated that in all the meeting with the representatives
of the opposition and the Armenian authorities, he presented the
message of the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and
Security Policy Javier Solana: to avoid steps, leading to violence,
act within the framework of law and direct the political energy to
a constructive course.
