Authorities may introduce state of emergency if protests continue

YEREVAN, March 1 (Itar-Tass) — If the opposition continues its
unlawful actions, Armenian President Robert Kocharyan will be prepared
to introduce a state of emergency in order to ensure national security.

The announcement was made by a member of the president’s Security
Council and Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanyan on Saturday.

Acting on instructions from Kocharyan, he held a briefing at the
presidential palace.
