The settlement of the Kosovo problem cannot set a precedent for
settling the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Jose Lello, president of the
NATO Parliamentary Assembly, told Azeri parliamentary speaker Agtai
Asadov in Baku on Wednesday.

Kosovo cannot be a precedent for settling the Nagorno Karabakh
conflict and the world community must absolutely accept this, the
Azeri parliament’s press service quoted Lello as saying. There is no
link between the conflicts in Kosovo and Karabakh, he said.

Lello described recent conflict in the disputed region as negative
violations of the ceasefire regime between the Azeri and Karabakh
armies.

Lello told the press that he had not received any official
information on violations of the ceasefire regime and therefore
could not formulate an official position. Nevertheless, he said,
it is a negative situation, which is regretful.

NATO advocates a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,
he said. Hopefully, the world community will help create stability
in the region, he added.

Lello arrived in Azerbaijan to attend a Rose-Roth seminar in Baku on
March 6-8.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
