Armenian defence minister briefs military envoys on situation in
country

Yerevan, 7 March: Armenian Defence Minister Mikayel Harutyunyan has
given a briefing for military attaches accredited in Armenia.

The minister gave his explanation of the recent domestic political
developments in Armenia, including the escalation of the situation on
the contact line between the armed forces of Nagornyy Karabakh and
Azerbaijan. Mikayel Harutyunyan said that the armed forces had
undertaken necessary steps to prevent the threat and to control the
situation in the country and on the contact line.

The minister said that the restoration of stability in Armenia was
important for the maintenance of peace and security in the region as
a whole.

The military diplomats expressed their confidence that Armenia would
quickly overcome the crisis and that life in the country would return
to normal.
