Armenia: Sirusho speaks to esctoday.com

The Armenian final took place last night in Yerevan and it saw Qele
qele, a favourite since it was first aired, win by an astounding
86,5% of the televote. A few minutes after the Armenian final was
over, Sirusho spoke to esctoday.com in her first exclusive interview
for our readers.
Qele qele was composed by Harout Ter-Hovakimyan and penned by Sirusho
herself. It was a clear favourite from the very beginning and managed
an astounding 86,5% of the televote. Sirusho spoke to Zaven
Shegrikyan, reporting for esctoday.com from Yerevan.

How does Sirusho feel representing her country in such a high profile
contest such as Eurovision? The twenty year old artist is naturally
very excited and proud. She considers the contest to be something
very important and she is prepared to do her best to represent the
Armenian culture to the world : "I am going to give all my love to
Europe", Sirusho says, " to Europe, to Armenia and the world. The
beginning of my song is in Armenian and it says "I came from my
Armenian land to bring the breeze of the mountains, to bring the
light of our sun."

Did she have a favourite among the four she performed in the Armenian
final? "Well, I honestly liked all four of them as I had a part in
their creation myself, having written the lyrics for all four. Apart
from the lyrics, I also made some changes in the compositions to
adapt them to my style" she states.

And how has people’s attitude changed towards her after she was
announced as the next Armenian representative in the Eurovision Song
Contest? "I am thankful for all the help, for all the good words and
the warm smiles" Sirusho says, "I really appreciate them. This is the
most important thing for me!"

Nothing has been decided yet upon the staging of the song in Belgrade
but Sirusho and her team are already working on it. As far as the
promo tour is concerned, ARMTV are planning it and Sirusho will be
happy to go.

The rest of the songs presented last night in Yerevan were the
following: Strong, composed by Vahram Petrosyan, I can’t control
it,-music by DJ Serjo and I still breathe composed by Martin
Mirzoyan. Sirusho wrote the lyrics to all four songs herself but for
I can’t breathe she collaborated with the Armenian Head of Delegation
Diana Mnatsakanyan.
