RA PRESIDENT: "LIMITS ON MEDIA ACTIVITIES WEAKENED"

"I think we need time to calm down. When the society is disrupted and
11 days ago we saw the results of meetings, we had serious clashes,
today it is meaningless to talk about meetings," said the president
of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, in a meeting with the journalists. He
talked about Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s attempt to get permission to
organize a meeting on 21 March.
Robert Kocharyan said that the limits put on the media will be
possible weakened, and there is no need to long the emergency state
limits. "Today in the evening or tomorrow I will sign a decree,
and the approach will be changed. In the frames of the emergency
state we dictate you what to do connected with the inner political
life. After signing the decree we’ll say you what you should not
do. Those limits will be narrower, and you’ll be free to express your
opinion, approaches, analysis. You just need to be more attentive,
and only after verifying your news publish them," said the president.
Talking about the recent incidents, the president said that they will
have serious impacts on tourism.
"Tourism is the field of business which is the most democratic branch
of economy. Here even the taxi driver has his interests," he said.
