CONSTRUCTION-ASSEMBLING OPERATIONS OF IRAN-ARMENIA GAS PIPELINE’S KAJARAN-ARARAT SECTION RELAUNCH

YEREVAN, March 14. /ARKA/. Construction-and-assembling operations on
Kajaran-Ararat section of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline have re-launched
after cold January, the ArmRosGasProm press service reports.
At present, Kajaran-Sisian and Sisian-Jermuk-Ararat sections are
under construction.
167.4km of shelves and 96km of tranches, 35km of service roads have
been constructed and 74.8km of gas pipelines assembled so far.
Chelyabinsk Tube-Rolling Mill supplies ArmRosGasProm steel pipes with
the diameter of 720mm.
Kajaran-Jermuk-Ararat section of the gas pipeline will be constructed
by November 2008, the company’s press service reports.
Iran-Armenia gas pipeline will increase the rate of flow of Armenia’s
gas-transport system and supply the country’s thermal power plants
with sufficient volume of Iranian gas.
The total building value of the Iran-Armenia gas main makes
$220-250mln. At the beginning, Armenia will annually get about 400mln
cubic meters of gas, planning to increase the rate up to 2,3bln
cubic meters.
According to the agreement, Iran will annually supply Armenia with
about 2.3bln cubic meters of gas during 20 years, planning to extend
the agreement terms for five years and increase the total volume of
the gas supply to 47bln cubic meters.
It is planned to turn the total volume of gas into electricity for
its export to Iran (3kWh per one cubic meter of gas) and utilization
in Armenia.
