ArmInfo. ‘The mass clashes in Yerevan on 1 March aimed to weaken
Armenia and settle the Karabakh conflict in that background. The
key ideologist of that program was the first president of Armenia
Levon Ter-Petorsyan>, Vice Chairman of the ruling Republican Party
of Armenia, parliamentarian Galust Sahakyan told ArmInfo.
He said that after the parliamentary elections in May 2007,
the Armenian opposition seemed weakened and has actually fallen
out from the political field. ‘In such situation, some opposition
forces remembered Levon Ter-Petorsyan’, Sahakyan said. He is sure
that Ter-Petrosyan has never strived for the post of the president;
he just fulfilled a definite mission and partially succeeded in
it. ‘Ter-Petrosyan managed to damage the country’s image, but he
failed to reach Karabakh issue>, the parliamentarian said. ‘Levon
Ter-Petrosyan is a traitor. If the rallies were continued and Turkish
flag was raised in the Liberty Square in the center of Yerevan,
I would not be surprised at all. Why should one be surprised when
Ter-Petrosyan speaks of Azerbaijan’s power and oil reserves that must
become a precondition for friendship in order that the Armenian people
also lives good’, Galust Sahakyan said.
