AZERI LEADER CALLS UN RESOLUTION ON KARABAKH "DIPLOMATIC VICTORY"

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has described the latest UN General
Assembly on the situation in Azerbaijan’s occupied territories as
"a great diplomatic and political victory". He said that the adoption
of the resolution is "a manifestation of our political might".

In his speech at festivities to mark the Novruz holiday, which were
broadcast live by the state TV channel AzTV on 20 March, Aliyev praised
Azerbaijan’s achievements and said that the country is developing at
a high pace both economically and politically.

Azerbaijan is the leading state of the region, and from now on,
the country will only move forward on the path of progress, he said.

Commenting on Azerbaijan’s foreign policy priorities, Ilham Aliyev
highlighted the country’s contribution to the energy security of
Europe. "Our foreign policy is aimed at strengthening stability,
deepening cooperation in the region and restoring peace," he said.

Aliyev reiterated that Azerbaijan will only accept a settlement of the
Karabakh conflict on the basis of the its territorial integrity and
that "the independence of Nagornyy Karabakh will never be recognized".

The president also congratulated the nation on the Novruz holiday.
