70th Anniversary Of Armenian Jazz Marked This Year

70th ANNIVERSARY OF ARMENIAN JAZZ MARKED THIS YEAR

YEREVAN, MARCH 24, NOYAN TAPAN. For the first time listeners heard a
jazz work by Armenian State Radio in 1938, performed by the Jazz Band
conducted by Artemi Ayvazian. In connection with that significant event
the 70th anniversary of Armenian jazz will be solemnly marked during
the whole year 2008, within the framework of which many concerts with
the participation of both Armenian jazz musicians and those having
world fame will be held.

Besides, as Noyan Tapan was informed by the Armenian Jazz 70 organizing
committee’s Press Service, many other cultural events will also take
place during the year.

It was mentioned Levon Malkhasian (Chairman), Konstantin Orbelian,
Martin Vardazarian, Yervand Yerznkian, Armen Tutunjian, Armen
Martirosian, Raffi Zakharian, Ruben Jaghinian, and Armen Ayvazian
are included in the Armenian Jazz 70 organizing committee.
