The Government which should be formed after 9 April is in the
center of gossips and disputes. The major thing discussed is who
will get the position of the prime minister after the oath ceremony
of Serzh Sargsyan. To analyze the candidature of Hovik Abrahamyan,
Karen Karapetyan and Tigran Sargsyan which are so much talked about
in the local media, Panorama.am asked Alexander Markarov, politician
and the director of CIS countries institute Armenian branch.
He reminded that the candidature of the prime minister should be
considered by the Constitution of the RA and see what it says, thus
the president offers the candidature of the prime minister to the
National Assembly who is accepted by the majority of the NA.
"Though four parties created political coalition the first step will
be done by the Republican Party," he said. A. Markarov said that
possibly the one who is accepted by the Republican Party will be named.
But is the candidature of the mentioned people real
practically? Markarov answered, "The opportunities of Tigran Sargsyan’s
candidature are not so high though it is long time he directs such
important institution in the country and he is rather skillful in
management, economy and finance. To analyze the current candidate
from the point of politics, it is obvious that he has the skills
common to the prime minister."
As for the deputy Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, it is quite possible
that he will be proposed to the NA, said Markarov. The politician
said that as the ongoing Prime Minister has already worked with the
deputy prime minister, he could wish to see him in the position of the
Prime Minister and continue their cooperation. "But possibly he will
be transferred from the Government administration to the president’s
administration," he said.
Markarov mentioned that there are little opportunities that Karen
Karapetyan’s candidature will be offered to the NA. "If we regard
the candidates’ opportunities by percents then the image would be as
following Hovik Abrahamyan 50-55%; Tigran Sargsyan 35-40%; and Karen
Karapetyan 10%," concluded the politician.
