EX-ADVISER OF NKR PRESIDENT: TALKS ABOUT ‘DELIVERY OF TERRITORIES’ ARE DESTRUCTIVE

ArmInfo. The talks about ‘delivery of territories’ of the security
belt around Nagorno Karabakh are destructive, ex-adviser of
the NKR president, ex-Foreign Minister of the NKR, as well as
RA ex-presidential contender Arman Melikyan said at today’s
press-conference in "Hayatsk" club.

Having emphasized the necessity of documentary preservation of these
territories’ status, A. Melikyan also spoke for the beginning of
the process of recognition of Nagorno Karabakh by Armenia. "Not to
recognize Nagorno Karabakh immediately but to start the process,
that is, start negotiations on the issues of borders and security",
A. Melikyan said. Commenting on the recent statement of RA incumbent
President Robert Kocharyan about possibility of the NKR recognition
by Armenia, Melikyan said that such statements were heard from the
new elected RA President Serzh Sargsyan. If R. Kocharyan thinks that
this issue is in the country’s agenda, he could deal with it the
past 10 years and not 10 days before completion of his authorities,
A. Melikyan said. He also recalled that on the contrary, S. Sargsyan
said that Armenia is not going to recognize the NKR in the near future.
