YEREVAN, APRIL 4, NOYAN TAPAN. By the end of 2010 an Armenian
Genocide museum will open in Washington. As Arpi Vardanian, the
Regional Director of the Armenian National Committee of Armenia and
Nagorno Karabakh, stated at the press conference, which was held
on April 4, the construction of the museum has already started and
the organizers expect the financial assistance of all the Armenians
for a quick process. In her words, Turks have for many times tried
to hinder from receiving the permission of the local authorities
for the construction of the museum, saying that there has not been
a genocide, however, all their efforts were in vain. According to
Arpi Vardanian, the visitors of the museum will have an opportunity
"to become acquainted and be aware of the genocide of not only the
Armenians but also of other nations."

Touching upon the March 1 events, which took place in Armenia,
the Regional Director of the Armenian National Committee mentioned
that she is not of the opinion that the United States of America
will make a decision to stop the financial assistance for Armenia
for that reason. According to Arpi Vardanian, irrespective of the
letter of Ambassador Danilovich addressed to the RA current President
Robert Kocharian, according to which Armenia can be left out from
the "Millenium Challenges" program, such a thing should not happen,
as the people will suffer as a result.

As regards the presidential elections of the United States of America,
according to Arpi Vardanian, the Armenian National Committee does not
have a right to have an official position with regard to supporting
any candidate.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
