RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY UN – THE GREATEST VICTORY OF AZERBAIJANI DIPLOMACY AND SERIOUS DEFEAT OF ARMENIA

Foreign political scientists and experts think so Adopted in the
frames of 62nd session of UN General Assembly resolution "Situation at
occupied Azerbaijani territories" is evaluated by majority of foreign
experts as one of the greatest successes ever achieved by Azerbaijani
diplomacy over the passed years. Following analysts, resolution has
demonstrated that in this issue Armenia remains in absolute isolation.
Famous Russian political scientists and experts also relate adopted
resolution to the greatest success of Azerbaijan. One of leading
analysts of the Kremlin – director of the institute on political
researches, Sergey Markov, holds that adoption of this document
became weighty victory of Azerbaijani diplomacy and serious defeat
of Armenia. Presence of USA, Russia and France amongst countries
voted against resolution political scientist motivates with different
reasons. Accordingly to him this first of all connected with strong
Armenian diaspora in the mentioned countries.
Yulia Latinina, presenter of program "Access Code" which was on air
of radio station "Echo of Moscow" said: "At the most tense stage of
Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict west supported Armenia. Azerbaijan was
regarded as the country where Turks and some Asians are living.
However official Baku took the way of peace, way of development,
steady raising of GDP. Country which led honest fight in the region
didn’t want to lose its strategic position and even within very hard
conditions it started oil extracting in the Caspian Sea. We clearly
see that Azerbaijan, working on revival of own economy over 10 years,
gained the image of state in the eyes of west, having left Armenia
behind. This is very important stage".
Lengthy articles on this issue were also published by Armenian press.
Resolution is taken as defeat of Armenian diplomacy. Information
published in "Voice of Armenia" newspaper comments resolution as defeat
of Armenian diplomacy; it reads that for Armenia it is very dangerous
precedent. Failure of lobbyist activity of Armenian diplomacy in UN
is also stressed. It is underlined that over 15 years it turned to
be incapable to present some expert set in the talk process. Russian
political scientist, Sergey Markedonov, and others hold that adopted
resolution is of great importance. S. Markedonov particularly said
that for Minsk Group it is alert.
Political scientist Alexander Karavayev also draws attention to
further activity of OSCE Minsk Group involved with regulation of the
conflict. Accordingly to him co-chairs should realize that official
Baku is not contended with their activity. It seems as if "three"
turned to be in very complicated situation. They still can’t find
way out of situation.
Then political scientist, A. Karavayev emphasizes: there exists one
more important moment. Significant allies of official Baku on GUAM and
OIC have been defined. And not only OIC is becoming powerful aspect of
Azerbaijani diplomacy. The fact that the world is multi-polar should
be taken into consideration.
