ArmInfo. ‘Today is of great importance to me>, the newly elected
president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan says in his inaugural address at
a special session of the Armenian National Assembly, Wednesday.

S. Sargsyan says he swore in to fulfill the Constitution’s requirements
without a reservation. ‘On this historical day everyone swears. I
swear aloud and ask you to swear silently’, S. Sargsyan said. He
expressed confidence that everyone will swear to serve the Fatherland
and the people.

He called it a common oath for the bright future and development of
the country, for democracy, for the triumph of the law, and for more
powerful and prospering Armenia. ‘God grant me a power in order I
will not disappoint any of my like-minders. God grant everyone enough
force to overcome the difficulties, find cure for the problems worrying
those who are disappointed and pessimistic and lack hope and optimism’,
the president of Armenia says.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
