RA NA IN FIRST READING ADOPTS BILL ON MAKING AMENDMENT TO LAW ON MILITARY POLICE

YEREVAN, APRIL 10, NOYAN TAPAN. On April 10, the RA National Assembly
adopted the 6 bills and legislative packages discussed on April
8. The prevailing majority of them envisage amendments and addenda
to valid laws.
In particular, the bill On Internal Audit and the package of amendments
to the valid law On Treasury System proceeding from it were adopted
in the first reading. It regulates the main relations connected
with internal audit in RA state government and local self-government
bodies, institutions within their jurisdiction, state and communal
non-commercial organizations, establishes the main rights and duties
of the sides.
The amendment to the valid law On Military Police proposed by the
government, adopted in the first reading, in particular, stipulates
that to guarantee personal defence, a military police servant
has the right to use a helmet, a shield, a gas-mask. Besides the
above mentioned means, the right to use other defence means is also
stipulated, the list and order of use of which is established by the
RA government.
The bill also stipulates that the personal defence means are used
when suspending and preventing attacks on military entities under
protection, as well as on military transport means, in military
subdivisions, including during mass disobedience in garrison
disciplinary isolators of the RA Defence Ministry, during military
exercises, as well as during events implemented in cooperation with
other law enforcement bodies.
