YEREVAN, APRIL 11, NOYAN TAPAN. Serge Sargsian, the President of the
Republic of Armenia, touched upon the supremacies of the foreign
policy of the country during his meeting with the heads of the
diplomatic representations of Armenia accredited abroad, which was
held on April 10, and mentioned that it is necessary to be braver
and display a greater activeness in order to push them forward. "We
want the forthcoming years to become years of active and initiating
foreign policy," he stressed.

According to Serge Sargsian, no sharp changes are expected in the
course of the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia, the policy of
mutual suppliment, as well as the deepening and strengthening of the
bilateral and multilateral relations with friend and partner states
will be continued.

At the same time he has set a task to build relations with all the
countries much more intensively and dynamically, which, in his words,
does not mean at all that the foreign political department has not
fulfiled its tasks or has fulfiled them badly. According to Serge
Sargsian, it is just necessary to conduct more intensive work and
double the efforts, taking into consideration the dictation of the
time and circumstances.

According to the message provided to Noyan Tapan by the RA President’s
Press Office, Serge Sargsian thoroughly referred to the current state
and tasks of the regulation of the Karabakh conflict. He attached
special importance to the work with the Diaspora and to a more complete
use of the potential of the Diaspora.

Serge Sargsian attracted the attention of the diplomats also to the
problems concerning the expansion of foreign economic relations and
involvement of investments mentioning that serious work is being
conducted in the direction of creating normal competitive conditions
inside the country, the tax and customs bureaucratism will no doubt
be improved, and a hard struggle will be led against corruption.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
