Baku. Ramil Mammadli-APA. "The document on "Armenian genocide"
cannot be adopted in Israeli Parliament", former Israeli Ambassador
to Azerbaijan Eitan Naye told journalists, APA reports.
He said that it should be discussed by historians and should not
become means of political struggle.
"Israel is a democratic state. Few members of Knesset wanted
to raise the issue on "Armenian genocide" to discussion. This is
their position. The position of Israeli state on this issue has not
changed. I think that historians should take a stance on this issue.
When I was ambassador there was an attempt to raise "Armenian genocide"
to discussion in the Parliament. But this attempt failed. I am sure
this will repeat again and wish of few persons will not be taken into
consideration", he said.
Touching upon Israel’s relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey, the
former ambassador noted that friendly relations were developing.
"People change, but interests remain and friendly relations are
developing with this regard", he said.
