Presidential elections in Armenia, processes, occurring before and
after the voting, created tenseness in the South Caucasus, along
with causing anxiety of the Council of Europe and other international
organizations.
The due announcement was made by member of the Azerbaijani
parliamentary delegation Ganira Pashayeva, during discussions of
presidential elections in Armenia in PACE.
"The most frustrating is that official Yerevan held elections of
Armenian President in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan, in particular,
in Nagorno Karabakh, Lachin and Kelbajar. Thus, Armenia demonstrated
once more that it does not fulfill commitments, undertaken before
the Council of Europe on the peaceful resolution of the conflict by
violating the principles of international norms", said Pashayeva.
The Azerbaijani parliamentarian informed the European parliamentarians
that the Armenian authorities for the purpose of distracting
attention of the world society from internal situation, connected with
emergency state and strict attitude of the world society, undertook
the provocation. Thus, Armenians tried to attack the Azerbaijani armed
forces and Azerbaijani civilians from positions in the occupied lands
on March 4. Pashayev said casualties were reported.
"The civilians, who work in their gardens and on the fields, become
targets of Armenian snipers", said she.
At the same time, the parliamentarian asked PACE to demand from
Armenia to stop the steps, which have a negative impact on the peaceful
negotiations around the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution.
"Tenseness in the South Caucasus is a threat for the whole Europe",
said she.
