NEW DEFENSE MINISTER INTRODUCED TO ARMY BRASS

YEREVAN, APRIL 15, ARMENPRESS: President Serzh Sarkisian met today
with army brass to introduce the new defense minister Seyran Ohanian.

The presidential press service quoted Serzh Sarkisian as saying
that he has known Seyran Ohanian for 20 years and can not remember
an act on his part that would be unworthy of an army officer. The
president commended the new minister’s contribution to establishment
and strengthening of Armenian armed forces.

According to Serzh Sarkisian, the army will continue to remain in
the limelight of the government.

He said the army has now serious tasks adding also that he is
convicted that the army, spearheaded by new minister and new chief
of the general staff , will fulfill all of them successfully.

President Serzh Sarkisian thanked the outgoing minister Mikael
Harutyunian for effective work saying that he is sure that he will
exploit his experience to help make the army further efficient.

Seyran Ohanian thanked the commander-in-chief for the trust saying he
takes over by realizing very well the scale of responsibility of his
new tenure. He said also he will direct his efforts and knowledge
to raise the country’s defense capacities and make the army more
effective.
