YEREVAN, APRIL 22, NOYAN TAPAN. The prime minister Tigran Sargsian on
April 22 introduced the newly appointed minister Armen Gevorgian to the
staff of the RA ministry of territorial administration. A. Gevorgian
also assumed the duties of deputy prime minister.
T. Sargsian thanked the former minister Hovik Abrahamian, saying
during the years when he headed the ministry, notable achievements
have been registered and new relations with local authorities have
formed. However, there is much to be done in this sphere.
According to the prime minister, one of the government’s activity
programs is to encourage proportionate territorial development. He
said that it is no secret that the concentration in Yerevan hinders
development of the economic system of the country. T. Sargsian
announced that it is envisaged to form a financial center in
Dilijan. "It means that a number of departments related to the
financial sector will be moved out of Yerevan," he said.
