"The Armenians suffered heavy losses and underwent terrible ordeal in
the course of their centuries-old history. Only owing to our people’s
unity and strong will we were able to survive and meet challenges
of the time, including the Genocide perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey
at the beginning of the 20th century", NA Speaker Tigran Torossian
stated in his message.

"As history shows a nation can be protected against such massacres if
it has an unconquerable, powerful and respectable state. Bending down
before the Genocide victims we, their successors, pledge to create
the Armenia of their dreams."

STRONG STATEHOOD AS A MEANS OF PROTECTION AGAINST GENOCIDE Serzh
Sargssian’s message: "There is no room for denial of the Genocide,
especially today when dozens of countries praise the truth. Recognition
of the Genocide is not a mere national mission of Armenia.

The massacre against human race is of worldwide importance;
consequently it must find a universal response. Our intentions are
not full of hostility and revenge. Though perpetuating the memory of
the Genocide victims we are ready to establish common relations with
Turkey without a prerequisite."

"Today, on April 24, we are obliged to realize the exceptional
importance of Armenian statehood. The Armenians must expand and advance
together with their state. This is the guarantee of a secure nation."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
