NO INCREASE IN TARIFFS

Will water, gas or electricity tariffs increase? The question bothers
nearly every Armenian.

"Food prices have increased. They say tariffs for electricity, gas,
water and other services are to increase too. Salaries do not rise
but expenses do", complains 45 year-old Yeranuhi. 71 year-old Alvard
notices: "My pension is only 21.000 drams. How can I cover all my
expenses with it? Shouldn’t I drink water or put on a light?" Press
Secretary of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) Mariam
Stepanian informs "A1+" there is going to be no increase in public
services till the end of 2008, i.e. people are going to pay the same
fixed tariffs for gas, water, electricity and other services.

By the way, "Gasprom" informs that from January 1 the gas tariff will
rise by 55 USD.
