ARMENIAN, GEORGIAN PRIME MINISTERS DISCUSS BILATERAL RELATIONS

Yesterday evening the Armenian Government delegation headed by
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan arrived in Minsk yesterday evening to
participate in the sitting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government.
Preceding the sitting the Armenian Prime Minister had a meeting
with his Georgian counterpart Lado Gurgenidze. At the beginning of
the meeting Tigran Sargsyan first congratulated Lado Gurgenidze on
the occasion of the parliamentary elections held in Georgian and
expressed hope that these elections will be a serious step in the
direction of moving forward along the path of democratization and
solving the problems the country faces. The Georgian Prime Minister
assured that the assessment of the international observers also
evidences the successful conduct of the elections and said it’s a
serious and important step for the country.
The two Prime Ministers underlined the importance of the
Armenian-Georgian Interparliamentary Commission from the perspective
of deepening of relations between the two countries and development
of cooperation.
Tigran Sargsyan and Lado Gurgenidze spoke about the current programs
of cooperation and the existing problems. Assessing the cooperation in
the energy sphere as rather productive, the interlocutors attached
importance to the intensification of mutual investments in the
financial-banking and other spheres, as well as the collaboration
within the framework of regional programs.
