President Sargsyan presents the new Chief of Police

Today RA President Serzh Sargsyan presented the newly appointed Chief
of Police Alik Sargsyan to the senior staff of RA Police adjunct to RA
Government.

The President thanked Hayk Harutyunyan for his long and conscientious
work and noted that he headed the system for nine years first as
Minister of Interior Affairs and later as Chief of Police. Besides, he
occupies leading positions in the system for over 16 years. Underlining
that this is almost a whole life, Serzh Sargsyan said: `All of you
understand that no state service is eternal, and changes are
necessary.’

According to the President, the newly appointed Chief of Police Alik
Sargsyan left the system 9 years ago and moved to another position,
where he demonstrated himself as a good organizer, and as a man who can
solve the problems posed for him.

Serzh Sargsyan expressed confidence that the new Chief of Police will
manage to unite the efforts of the Police for the system to be more
professional, for the Police employees to be socially safer.

The President of the republic called on the senior Police staff to look
at their responsibilities from another point of view and take up the
solving of problems the system faces with new vigor.

Chief of Police Alik Sargsyan thanked the President for high trust and
said he is well aware of the importance, difficulty and the huge
responsibility of the work entrusted to him. He promised to spare no
effort to reinforce public order, launch a targeted and unyielding
struggle against crime and different expressions of it. He said he will
do everything to keep high the human dignity and professional
reputation of every policeman, to solve the issues of social and legal
protection of the employees of the Police system.

The newly appointed Chief of Police said one of the primary issues is
to raise and reinforce the trust of our people in the Police.
