GAROYIAN – HOVHANNESIAN DISCUSS CYPRUS – ARMENIAN RELATIONS
Gibrahayer – Nicosia Friday 6 June – Cyprus Armenian relations were
discussed in a meeting between President of the Cyprus Parliament
Marios Garoyian and former Vice President of The Armenian Parliament,
member of ARF Dashnaktsoutiun Bureau MP Vahan Hovhannesian in a meeting
that took place at the Cyprus Parliament today.
Present at the meeting were Armenian MP in the Cyprus Parliament
Vartkes Mahdessian, ARF Dashnaktsoutiun Cyprus Gomideh and Armenain
National Committee of Cyprus members headed by Gomideh representative
Hagop Kazandjian.
Vahan Hovhannesian conveyed the congratulations of the Armenian
people to his compatriot Marios Garoyian for being elected President of
the Cyprus Parliament and said that Armenia and Cyprus are connected
through unique historical and political ties.
Hovhannesian also had a meeting with EDEK President Yiannakis Omirou
on Thursday, in his office in the House of Representatives. The meeting
covered issues concerning relations between Cyprus and Armenia, as well
as the up-coming Socialist International Convention in the beginning of
next month in Sounio, Greece, at which both parties will be represented
with large delegations.
