Artur Javadyan Elected As Chairman Of Armenian Central Bank

YEREVAN, June 11. /ARKA/. Armenian Parliament elected Artur Javadyan
as Chairman of the Central Bank. Ninety-eight of 130 deputies took
part in the voting. Ninety-two voted in favour and only three voted
against his candidacy. Three ballot papers were invalidated.

The post of the CBA chairman had been vacant since April 9 when
Armenian President Serge Sargsyan signed a decree appointing CBA
Chairman Tigran Sargssyan to the post of the country’s prime minister.

"I am thankful to you for trusting in me and I assure you that with
your help I will be able to accomplish all the tasks," the newly
elected CBA chairman said.

The nomination was suggested by President Serge Sargsyan and was the
only one.

"It is both a big honor and responsibility before the government,
parliament, the citizens and the Central Bank staff," Javadyan said
in his speech before the Parliament members. Javadyan also pledged to
ensure independence and impartiality of CBA activities and will spare
no efforts to accomplish the ambitious plans of Armenian government.

Artur Javadyan was born on April 22, 1964. He finished the Yerevan
school â~D-30 after Chkalov in 1981, graduated from Armenian
Agricultural Institute in 1986 and post-graduate studies in the same
Institute in 1989.

In 1991-1997, Javadyan was board chairman of Arminvestbank, in
1997-1999 – board member of Armenian Central Bank.

In 1998-2008, Javadyan was Armenian Director of the Black Sea Trade
and Development Bank and Chairman of the Audit Committee.

>From September 1 to October 20, 2003 he was advisor to CBA Chairman,
from October 21, 2003 to the moment of his election he was
vice-chairman of CBA.

Javadyan masters Armenian, Russian and English languages. He is
married and has a 12-year-old daughter.
