POLITICAL SCIENTIST ALEXANDER ISKANDARYAN: "SOONEST RESOLUTION OF NAGORNO KARABAKH CONFLICT IS IMPOSSIBLE"

"Resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict in the real political
perspective, both short-term and middle-term one, is impossible",
said director of Caucasus Mass Media Institute Alexander Iskandaryan.
"Resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict in the real political
perspective, both short-term and middle-term one, is impossible,
no inclinations to it are observed", said he during the
Yerevan-Moscow-Baku vide bridge Wednesday.
Iskandaryan considers that the gap in military and economic potentials
often not plays any role.
As an example, the Armenian political scientist noted that in line
with the world practice, conflicts, such as Kashmir, Cyprus, Taiwan,
are not settled too quickly.
"Difference between Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, taken together,
and Azerbaijan and absolutely incomparable with the difference
of potentials of Taiwan and China or Kashmir and India, but these
conflicts are frozen and have been so. This remain for decades",
noted the political scientist.
"On the other side, unfortunately, there is no peace, but on the other
side, people are not killed and there is no war", noted Iskandaryan.
Speaking about economic benefits of the conflict resolution,
Iskandaryan noted that no one believes in it. "There is no real profit,
but there is also no real threat. No one in Armenia believes that
Azerbaijan can enrich and conquer us", said the political scientist.
He considers that all differences can be smoothed if parties
really want peace. "Not victory by way of peaceful negotiations,
but peace, when we all, the people who want peace in our region,
make compromises", noted Iskandaryan.
He said inclination for compromise, but not for protecting of our
interests, should appear in our societies.
