ARMENIAN PRESIDENT SIGNS DECREE ON CREATING PUBLIC COUNCIL

YEREVAN, JUNE 13, ARMENPRESS: Underscoring the necessity of promoting
social-political dialogue, Armenian President Serzh Sargsian signed a
decree on creating a Public Council. Presidential press service told
Armenpress that the council has a status of consultation body.

For coordinating the works on formation of the council a special
commission has been set up which is tasked to form task groups from
representatives of oppositional forces and authorities, representatives
of civil society, ensure the participation of all the interested
sides in the process of formation of the council.

Taking into consideration the existing approaches, suggestions on the
membership and statue of the Public Council were presented to Serzh
Sargsian. Consultant to the president Garnik Isagulian and aide Sevak
Lalayan has been tasked to ensure the normal work of the commission.

The commission coordinating the work on formation of the Public Council
consists of Robert Amirkhanian the head of the Armenian Composers’
Union, Mesrop Aramian, head of the "Gandzasar" theological center,
Emil Gabrielian, academician of the Armenian National Academy of
Sciences, Victor Dallakian, member of parliament, Hovhannes Zazanian,
deputy head of "Banants" football club, Pertch Zeituntsian member
of the Armenian Writers’ Union, Sergey Hambardzumian, academician
of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, Khosrov Harutyunian,
head of the Armenian Christian-Democratic Union, Thovmas Poghosian,
head of the "Sayat-Nova" cultural union, Arshak Sadoyan, head of
the National Democrats Alliance, Yuri Sargsian, academician of the
Armenian National Academy of Sciences, Sos Sargsian USSR people’s
artist, art director of Pan-National theatre, Shavarsh Kocharian,
head of the National Democratic Party.
