policlinic in Lori marz have been repaired and furnished with the
support of the USAID Primary Health Care Reform (PHCR) Project. Under
the program, 6-month comprehensive training for about 130 family and
community nurses in Lori and Shirak were held as well. The project head
Richard Yoder announced this at the event on results of the project’s
first stage in Lori and Shirak marzes. The RA minister of health
Harutyun Kushkian, the governor of Lori marz Aram Kocharian, the
program heads and others were present at the event.

doctors in Lori and Shirak.

In the words of the chairman of the National Assembly Standing
Committee on Social, Health and Environmental Issues Ara Babloyan,
although the program was launched with difficulty, its success is
evident today. "When we consider the further development of the sphere,
we realize that in addition to assigning family doctors the task of
performing their functions, and we should also decide and show how we
perceive their work in the project by groups and teams in terms of
diagnosing and prevention of diseases and establishing a healthy
lifestyle," he said.

The Lori regional governor Aram Kocharian stated that the implemented
reforms will greatly contribute to the development and improvement of
the health sector. According to him, nearly 40 medical institutions in
rural areas have been provided with new equipment and instruments,
better conditions have been created there. "It means that the problem
of primary health care in marzes, especially in rural communities, has
been dealt with quite efficiently," he said.

During the meeting, 40 community heads of Lori marz have been given
letters of thanks of the RA ministry of healthcare for their active
participation in improvement of the primary health care system and

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
