"OPENING NATO’S DOOR" BY RONALD ASMUS PUBLISHED IN ARMENIAN

YEREVAN, JUNE 23, NOYAN TAPAN. The presentation of the Armenian
publication of the book "Opening NATO’s Door" by former US Deputy
Assistant Secretary of the State Ronald Asmus took place at the NATO
Information Center in Yerevan on June 23. As the center director Ara
Tadevosian said that book shows the complex and ambiguous process of
the NATO enlargement from "inside".

The U.S. Charge d’Affairs in Armenian Joseph Pennington called the
presentation the best start of the NATO Week in Armenia. According
to him, the book presents the reconstruction of the NATO after the
collapse of the USSR and the enlargement of the alliance – initially in
Central and Eastern Europe, then in the South Caucasus. J. Pennington
expressed confidence that many in Armenia will find this book useful.

Attaching special imortance to the role of the NATO Information Center
in informing the Armenian public about NATO activities. J. Pennington
said that the work of the Yerevan Information Center was highlighted
at the NATO’s summit held in Brussels in May.

"Opening NATO’s Door" in Armenian was published by the Armenian Center
for Transatlantic Initiatives with the financial assistance of the
foreign ministry of Lithuania and the defence ministries of Latvia
and Estonia. The translation was done by advisor to the Armenian
president Vigen Sargsian.
