Armenian pig farmers who slaughtered their animals in prevention of
swine fever have launched complaints that state compensation not been
distributed properly, Armenia Now has reported.
The procedure of the financial support distribution is over, but the
complaints of the pig farmers are not. The village, where the first
case of African swine fever was registered is among the protesters.
The virus was found in 702 pigs in the village; the owners of 420 of
them have not received compensation.
According to a governmental decision passed earlier in 2008 the state
budget has allotted 480 million drams (â~B¬978,222) to the communities
of the republic who suffered from swine fever.
