Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 July Trend News / I.Alizade / Ogtay Asadov, the
speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, considers that international
archaeologists should be involved in the investigation of mass
graveyard, discovered in Guba, the Azerbaijani Northern District.

"Graveyard discovered in Guba District is a genocide act which should
be demonstrated to the international community. Unfortunately, so
far, only local historians and archaeologists have been engaged in
the investigation into this matter," the speaker of the Azerbaijani
Parliament said at the parliamentary meeting.

Mass graveyard was discovered during the construction of the stadium
in Guba District in mid-April 2007. Experts said that disorderly
buried bodies and other factors proved for the genocide realized by
Armenians in 1918. So far, 190 human remains have been found.

The speaker said that he visited graveyard in Guba together with
the visiting Luis Maria De Puig, the President of the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe on 3 July.

"We both were horrified from what we witnessed. I regret that
ambassadors, working in Azerbaijan, do not visit this graveyard when
they come to Guba District," the speaker said.

Guba District is located 170km north of the capital Baku.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
