PROGRESS SEEN IN RESOLUTION OF KARABAKH CONFLICT – RUSSIAN LEADER SAYS IN BAKU

"We support the resumption of direct negotiations between the
presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia which took place in St Petersburg
on 6 June" Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev has said after his
talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"Russia will make necessary assistance to search for a
mutually-accepted solution" Medvedev has said, adding that "this is a
complicated process and we will assist as we can, there is even some
progress achieved".
"It’s good to see that Nagornyy Karabakh conflict has been reflected
in the joint declaration signed today," Azerbaijani President Ilham
Aliyev said. He noted the importance of Russia’s support to resolve the
conflict within the framework of international norms and principles.
"We are grateful to Russia for its position. Russia’s approach and
its involvement in resolution of the conflict have its outcome"
Aliyev said.
